Getac unveils next-gen rugged laptops for key sectors

Yesterday

Getac has launched its next-generation B360 and B360 Pro fully rugged laptops, targeting professional sectors such as public safety, utilities, and defence with two robust and adaptable solutions.

The new B360 and B360 Pro models integrate advanced technology upgrades, featuring the latest Intel CoreTM Ultra Series 2 processors and Intel AI Boost technology. This allows users to utilise on-device Edge AI for swift and seamless task execution, which is beneficial in environments requiring real-time processing, data privacy, offline operation, and cost efficiency.

Getac conducted a text-to-report evaluation with its industry customers using Llama 3.1 8B, where AI applications running on the B360 converted extensive texts into complete reports rapidly. This showcases the potential operational benefits of Edge AI over traditional cloud AI solutions.

The laptops also offer new I/O options, including up to two ThunderboltTM 4 ports for high-speed data transfer. LifeSupport hot-swappable battery technology helps reduce downtime by minimising mid-shift recharging needs. Additionally, Wi-Fi 7 compatibility significantly enhances data speed and reduces latency compared to previous standards.

The B360 Pro is equipped as standard with dual high-capacity batteries and can include an optional NVIDIA Quadro RTX A500 4GB graphics controller, enhancing visual performance without affecting processing speed. The B360 Pro's media bay can accommodate a third SSD, a third battery, DVD drive, or Blu-Ray drive, offering substantial storage flexibility.

The B360 and B360 Pro can be tailored with various configurations and customisation options, including hardware, software, accessories, and services. This flexibility allows customers to align their device specifications with their specific use cases, even with limited order quantities.

For public safety professionals, the B360 series enhances situational awareness with specific software and accessory options like Getac Geolocation, password, RFID, and fingerprint reader authentication features. These devices are designed to facilitate efficient data access and secure real-time updates in the field.

Utilities professionals will find the next-generation B360 suitable for mobile geographic information system (GIS), surveying, and mapping tasks, particularly in remote or adverse conditions. Its durability certifications, drop resistance, and optional accessories like a high-accuracy GPS module cater to demanding environments.

Defence professionals can utilise the B360 Pro for secure, reliable command and control operations. Its design supports prolonged operation with extended battery life and can turn vehicles into mobile command stations through optional docking solutions.

James Hwang, President at Getac Technology Corporation, commented, "As the popularity of open-source and Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) language models continues to grow at a rapid pace, Getac has collaborated with industry customers to develop innovative vertical market AI applications that let them take full advantage of the operational benefits on offer. These advancements will drive demand for rugged Edge AI devices like the next-generation B360 and B360 Pro, and accelerate AI adoption across the public safety, utilities, and defence sectors."

He further noted, "Getac's industry-specific solutions and customisation capabilities also give customers much more control when choosing devices for specific use cases, helping to maximise productivity and deliver a rapid return on their investment."
