Edgehax secures INR ₹1.39 crore to expand edge AI hardware reach

Sat, 23rd Aug 2025

Edgehax has raised INR ₹1.39 crore in seed investment led by Inflection Point Ventures in a bid to boost manufacturing and expand product development and market reach.

Edgehax produces a modular Edge AI hardware platform that combines compute, network, and storage features on a single board. The platform is already in use by over 150 startups, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and large organisations. With this latest injection of capital, Edgehax intends to accelerate adoption, scale up production, further develop its product range, and expand its reach to international markets such as Singapore, the United States, and Europe.

Investment and market context

Inflection Point Ventures, which has invested more than INR ₹800 crore across over 220 businesses, led this funding round. Commenting on the investment, Vikram Ramasubramanian, Partner at Inflection Point Ventures, said,

"Despite India being one of the largest markets for tech and AI, it lacks a domestic hardware prototyping platform. Startups, OEMs, and enterprises have to rely on foreign-made boards and compute modules. Our investment in Edgehax comes at a pivotal moment in time where the government also underlines India's need for domestically designed and manufactured flexible hardware that is accessible, reliable and affordable. Edgehax is at the forefront of this, with not only product development but also community-led ecosystem that helps scale quickly and reliably.''

The global edge hardware market is projected to more than double by 2030, reaching nearly USD $59 billion from approximately USD $26 billion in 2025. This growth is attributed to the rising prevalence of connected devices, including smartphones, industrial machinery, and Internet of Things (IoT) products, which is driving demand for real-time data processing at the network edge.

Product developments

Edgehax's hardware is currently deployed across sectors such as industrial gateways, robotics, autonomous vehicles, drones, and Indian defence, including use in NavIC-based tracking systems and 4G/5G connectivity. The company's proprietary DvarOS platform is designed specifically for industrial edge gateways. Its single integrated board is utilised by organisations to prototype and develop hardware-led products efficiently.

The company has recently won the NXP Silicon Seeds Startup Program 2025 with plans to develop a low-cost Edge AI compute module based on NXP technology for automotive and consumer IoT markets. This product is scheduled for launch in Singapore, in partnership with NXP, by December. Edgehax is also the recipient of support from the Software Technology Parks of India and was awarded the MeitY Bhashini Startup Velocity 1.0 programme to create hardware assisting widespread adoption of the Digital India Bhashini Voice AI platform.

Community and academia engagement

Over 100,000 students and faculty from more than 30 universities, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), have participated in development programmes powered by Edgehax development kits. The company operates a hardware distribution platform that enables fabless OEMs to bring their products to market rapidly, leveraging a growing developer community in India's major research institutions.

The Edgehax community plays a significant role in product development. Developers, students, and researchers are key early adopters and have helped raise awareness through word of mouth. This has contributed to a hardware ecosystem where testing and scaling of new ideas can occur more efficiently.

Prabhu Stavarmath, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Edgehax, explained the company's vision:

"At Edgehax, our goal is to become a global pioneer in Edge AI Gateways and Single Board Computers by delivering fully integrated hardware platforms with open-source firmware and scalable cloud software - enabling rapid product development for startups, enterprises, and OEMs worldwide. By 2029, Edgehax aims to empower over 100 million developers using its boards and tools across APAC, the US, and Europe. The bigger goal is straightforward: become the go-to design and manufacturing partner for enterprises and OEMs that need hardware which is ready to use and easy to customize. Step by step, through consistent product development and local manufacturing, Edgehax is working to showcase its Make in India capabilities to a global stakeholders ecosystem."

Edgehax reports that it has designed and prototyped its boards entirely in India, supporting efforts towards electronic manufacturing independence. Presently, more than 5,000 edge gateway boards are in production, with a further 10,000 compute modules for consumer appliances due for release by December 2025.

Founders' backgrounds

Prabhu Stavarmath, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder, has more than 15 years of experience in IoT hardware, product development, and enterprise sales, with two prior startups serving over 100,000 customers and generating revenues exceeding USD $500,000. He has also contributed to scaling IoT and cloud solutions globally. Savitri Patil, Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder, brings expertise in operations, supply chain management, logistics, and workflow design, underpinned by a background in electronics and manufacturing.

The company's integrated edge boards have been adopted for a range of applications including industrial and defence settings, and are positioned to support further market growth as organisations worldwide seek accessible, reliable, and locally manufactured technology solutions.
