JioBharat unveils Safety-First features to protect families in India

Thu, 16th Oct 2025

Jio has introduced the Safety-First capability for its JioBharat phones, aimed at offering smart and secure connectivity solutions for families with children and dependent elders across India.

The new Safety-First solution is designed to keep families connected and protected using JioBharat, a widely trusted and affordable phone platform in the country.

Safety features

JioBharat Safety-First introduces several features intended to enhance the safety and well-being of users. The solution includes location monitoring, usage controls, device health monitoring, and up to a seven-day battery backup, according to details shared by the company.

Location monitoring allows families to remain informed about the whereabouts of their loved ones when they are away from home. Through the usage manager function, guardians can control incoming and outgoing communications by selecting who can call or message and blocking unknown numbers. The manager also offers the possibility to restrict access to distractions such as certain apps or services.

A real-time device and service health monitoring feature enables families to check battery and network strength, helping ensure uninterrupted connectivity. Jio emphasises that the time between charges, with up to seven days of battery life, contributes to the phone's reliability in staying always available during emergencies or daily routines.

Does away with distractions

Jio highlights that JioBharat's new features are purpose-built for use in Indian households. For children, the phone provides connectivity while limiting access to social media platforms and other potential distractions. For elderly parents, the device focuses on ease of use and shares health and location updates with family members. For women, Jio positions the phone as a companion for both safety and consistent communication.

The company showcased scenarios where the new feature set provided benefits to Indian families by offering added reassurance or peace of mind.

Official statements

Sunil Dutt, President, Reliance Jio, said:

"At Jio, we believe technology should serve a deeper purpose to connect, protect, and empower every Indian. The JioBharat Safety-First solution is built with that very intent. It's more than just a phone feature - it's a life- enabling innovation that offers families peace of mind, trust, and care in an easy and affordable way. With this, Jio continues to redefine how technology can make everyday life safer and simpler for millions."

Availability and pricing

The Safety-First capability is offered on the new JioBharat phones, which are available for purchase at Jio Stores, leading mobile retail outlets, JioMart, Amazon, and Swiggy Instamart. Pricing begins at INR ₹799, with Jio stating that this pricing structure is intended to make such technology accessible to households across the country.

The company has emphasised that the introduction of this technology aligns with its ongoing focus on providing digital care and smart connectivity to Indian families, without the need for high costs or complex devices.
