STT GDC India launches Jaipur data centre in Rajasthan

STT GDC India has launched STT Jaipur 1 in Rajasthan, describing it as the state's first data centre of its kind.
The facility extends the company's network to 10 cities and 34 data centres across India. It is intended to serve enterprises, government institutions, cloud providers and digital-native businesses in and around Jaipur as demand for data-intensive applications and cloud infrastructure rises.
STT Jaipur 1 is being developed with an IT design capacity of 6 MW and a total power load of 10 MVA. The site is housed in a three-storey building on a 5,971-square-metre campus.
The development reflects a broader push to expand digital infrastructure beyond India's largest metropolitan markets. Jaipur is among a number of emerging technology locations attracting interest from businesses seeking regional computing and storage capacity.
Across India, STT GDC India now has 613 MW of IT load capacity, including facilities under development. The latest addition strengthens its presence in a market where businesses are increasing their use of cloud services, artificial intelligence systems and other applications that require greater computing power.
The Jaipur facility was designed with energy efficiency, operational resilience, and environmental, social and governance principles in mind. STT GDC India said customers are looking for sites that can support the expansion of digital operations while aligning with sustainability targets.
Regional expansion
Data centre operators in India have concentrated much of their investment in major hubs such as Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Delhi and Kolkata. The move into Jaipur points to growing interest in second-tier markets as operators seek new demand and states aim to attract technology investment.
STT GDC India has described Rajasthan as an emerging destination for technology-led investment and innovation. A local data centre gives organisations in the state and nearby areas access to co-location services closer to where they operate.
Bimal Khandelwal, Chief Executive Officer of STT GDC India, linked the launch to broader changes in India's technology market.

Market demand
India's data centre sector has expanded as companies shift more workloads online and as public and private organisations seek domestic hosting and storage options. Operators have also been building additional capacity to meet demand from cloud firms and businesses deploying artificial intelligence tools.
STT GDC India said its latest site was built to support high-performance workloads and scalable cloud environments. That places the Jaipur facility in a segment of the market where operators are competing to provide resilient space, power and connectivity for customers with growing data needs.
The business is a majority-owned subsidiary of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres in Singapore. It has spent more than two decades designing, building and operating data centres in India and manages one of the country's largest white space portfolios, according to the company.
STT GDC India is also aiming for carbon-neutral data centre operations by 2030. The target comes as operators face growing scrutiny over power use, efficiency standards and the environmental impact of expanding digital infrastructure.
With the Jaipur launch, STT GDC India's footprint now covers 34 facilities, including those under development, with more than 613 MW of critical IT load across 10 cities.
