AccelerComm launches PUSCH Channel Simulator for spectral efficiency
Wed, 31st Jan 2024

British company AccelerComm is ready to launch its PUSCH Channel End-to-End Simulator, a highly configurable tool that allows telecom equipment vendors to assess AccelerComm's Intellectual Property (IP) components.

This new tool aims to help Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) telecom equipment and silicon vendors comprehend the spectral efficiency enhancements achieved by AccelerComm IP for their specific uses.

Spectral efficiency is vital to cellular and radio networks, providing the capacity, high data rates, quality coverage and excellent quality-of-service necessary for optimal operation.

The evaluation of these assets demands robust tools like AccelerComm's simulator, which tests the detailed behaviour of the PUSCH processing components relative to the widely recognised MATLABÒ 5G Toolbox and under scenarios defined by 3GPP.

Improving spectral efficiency can also contribute substantially to infrastructure cost reduction by lessening the need for equipment. As such, AccelerComm has made it their mission to offer complete physical layer IP solutions which optimise 5G radio access network performance and tackle issues that would ordinarily limit the throughput, latency, and spectral efficiency of 5G.

The PUSCH Channel End-to-End Simulator, according to Will Brown, Terrestrial Networks Product Director at AccelerComm, helps meet an integral need. Brown highlighted the difficulties they had faced in virtually evaluating and presenting the spectral efficiency enhancements arising from their advanced algorithms.

The simulator, he said, offers 'a tool that allows every stakeholder in the value chain to instantly understand these performance gains and how they benefit their own specific use cases.'

The simulator demonstrates, for example, the 3dB spectral efficiency benefit of AccelerComm's Equaliser, and the 0.8dB gain of the LDPC decoder. Providing quantifiable parameters helps stakeholders understand the benefits of AccelerComm's products for their specific needs, thereby enhancing the decision-making process when selecting solutions.

To allow for a fair comparison of AccelerComm IP components, two signal processing chains are simulated side by side. The primary chain features components from MATLABÒ and 5G Toolbox, in conjunction with an interference estimator, channel equaliser, QAM demapper and LDPC decoder from AccelerComm.

The benchmarking chain consists entirely of components from MATLABÒ and 5G Toolbox. This approach aids in understanding the impact of individual components on the PUSCH Channel of the high PHY.

AccelerComm provides complete physical layer IP solutions and components which enable optimal performance of 5G radio access networks and solve the challenges that would otherwise limit the throughput, latency, and spectral efficiency of 5G, by mitigating the effects of noise, interference and poor signal strength. The company is active in a number of industry associations including the O-RAN ALLIANCE and Small Cell Forum.
