Myriota launches FlexSense, transforming the IoT landscape

Tue, 21st May 2024

Myriota, a global telecommunication company specialising in field-generated intelligence, has unveiled its latest innovation, the Myriota FlexSense. Launched as the fastest deployable commercial off-the-shelf IoT hardware, FlexSense is poised to significantly shift the landscape of the Internet of Things (IoT) market.

FlexSense is designed for rapid deployment, taking minutes from unboxing to installation. Featuring advanced Bluetooth Low Energy and multi-sensor capabilities, the device operates autonomously with Myriota's low-power satellite connectivity. With just four AA batteries, FlexSense can function for over ten years, offering a long-lasting solution for various applications.

The device is engineered to address a broad range of use cases including location monitoring, and sensing environments for humidity, pressure, temperature, and vibration. Its rugged IP67-rated and UV-resistant enclosure ensures durability, with operational capacity ranging from -30C to +70C (-22F to 158F). A preinstalled 3m cable and versatile sensor interfaces, such as analogue, digital, serial, and I2C, enhance its adaptability.

Myriota’s CEO, Ben Cade, spoke about the transformative potential of FlexSense: "With FlexSense we redefine the IoT landscape, making it easier than ever before to design and deploy IoT solutions that work anywhere. The technology works seamlessly with a variety of sensors, meaning our partners can rapidly customise the hardware to meet their unique specifications across a wide range of use cases."

Cade emphasised the cost-effective and low-risk nature of the device for solution providers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). He noted, "Our technology is trusted by solutions providers and OEMs looking to bring best-in-class IoT solutions to sectors including agriculture, water, and transport & logistics, as well as a whole host of environmental applications. Our global reach is testament to the trust our customers have in the reliability of our hardware and services, and our ability to provide them with a competitive edge in an ever-changing global market."

One of the first companies to test the FlexSense hardware is Grundfos, a Denmark-based global pump and water solutions company. Tom Drew, Global Business Development Manager, Solar, at Grundfos, commented, "Myriota is an indispensable partner for our business, enabling us to deliver our energy and water solutions for a wide range of use cases across the globe. Their low-power devices enable our customers to optimise operations over huge distances, reduce energy consumption, and maximise sustainability, while also ensuring faster response times to issues such as water leaks."

As the sales volumes of OEMs increase, they can easily transition from the ready-to-deploy FlexSense to customised solutions built using the Myriota Module. This pathway offers OEMs a quick and low-risk method for developing solutions that meet specific economic and form factor requirements.

Headquartered in Australia, Myriota reported a remarkable 300% growth in deployed devices in FY2023. The company is scaling rapidly with deployments in regions including Asia-Pacific (APAC), the United States (USA), Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), and Latin America (LATAM). Myriota is recognised for its innovative solutions in remote communication and monitoring technologies, serving sectors from agriculture to environmental conservation.
