RANsemi & TechPhosis unveil ISC kit to boost Open RAN 5G

Fri, 5th Dec 2025

RANsemi and TechPhosis have formed a new collaboration to deliver an Integrated Small Cell (ISC) Starter Kit. The initiative seeks to advance the development of integrated small cells and support the Open RAN ecosystem. The partnership combines UK expertise in wireless semiconductors with Indian expertise in 5G software integration.

Cross-border cooperation

The two companies are pooling their strengths to address next-generation mobile infrastructure. RANsemi contributes its software-defined baseband PHY technology, while TechPhosis brings in its Layer 2/3 RAN stack capabilities. This combination is intended to help original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), integrators, and researchers developing 5G small-cell solutions.

According to the companies, the ISC Starter Kit provides a platform that allows rapid experimentation, development, and prototyping. This comes as the demand for more flexible and interoperable solutions increases within the mobile network sector.

Focus on integration

The ISC Starter Kit is designed to provide a practical foundation for 5G-integrated small-cell innovation. It aims to shorten design and integration cycles for industry partners. The kit is positioned as a platform for exploring new performance parameters, interoperability testing, and deployment scenarios for small cells.

"Our collaboration with RANsemi brings together cutting-edge hardware innovation from the UK and advanced RAN software integration expertise from India. Together, we are enabling a fast-track route for OEMs to accelerate integrated small-cell development and strengthen the Open RAN ecosystem. This partnership delivers a carrier-grade 5G solution built on a low-power consumption SoC, offering an ultra-cost-optimised design with significantly reduced time-to-market," said Mangal Singh, Co-Founder and COO, TechPhosis.

Open RAN support

The companies have outlined that the kit will support the Open RAN environment, which aims to foster vendor diversity and support innovation in network infrastructure. By enabling access to both hardware and software components, the kit is intended to help new entrants and established players accelerate product development.

Peter Claydon, CEO at RANsemi, said the partnership supports a range of use cases, from research to commercial deployment. He pointed to the companies' combined capabilities as underpinning the development of both new products and interoperable solutions for 5G networks.

"RANsemi and TechPhosis are aligned in enabling new entrants and innovators to move faster in the evolution of small cell and Open RAN technologies. By bringing together RANsemi's PHY with TechPhosis' Layer 2/3 expertise, we're delivering a foundation that supports experimentation, rapid prototyping and product realisation," said Claydon.

5G security initiative

The collaboration aligns with the UK-India Telecoms Security Initiative, which promotes joint research and development in Open RAN and related network technologies. The companies see their partnership as an example of industry alignment with international cooperation agreements in the telecoms sector.

The ISC Starter Kit is scheduled for commercial availability in the first quarter of 2026. Both companies have opened registration for partners interested in the platform.
