Myriota unveils FlexSense to accelerate IoT development globally

Thu, 23rd May 2024

Myriota, a global satellite IoT company, has launched Myriota FlexSense, a new IoT hardware platform designed to accelerate the development of sensor-based solutions. Announced as the most rapidly deployable platform currently available on the global market, FlexSense aims to provide critical connectivity for remote tracking and sensing data globally.

The technology, named FlexSense, promises to offer developers a fast and low-risk pathway to market by drastically shortening the time required to bring new IoT solutions online. Featuring advanced Bluetooth Low Energy and multi-sensor capabilities, the device is powered by Myriota's low-power satellite connectivity and can run for over ten years on just four AA batteries.

This new platform allows solution providers and OEMs to create and deploy tracking and sensing IoT solutions within months instead of years. The FlexSense offers a code-free experience suitable for a myriad of applications, including location monitoring, humidity, pressure, temperature, and vibration sensing. Myriota claims the device can be deployed in minutes, transforming complex installations into a streamlined process. It comes in a highly rugged and resilient IP67-rated, UV-resistant enclosure operational within a temperature range of -30°C to +70°C (-22°F to 158°F), ensuring reliability in diverse and harsh environments.

Ben Cade, CEO of Myriota, stated, "With FlexSense, we redefine the IoT landscape, making it easier than ever before for developers to design and deploy IoT solutions that work anywhere. The technology works seamlessly with a variety of sensors, meaning our partners can rapidly customise the hardware to meet their unique specifications across a wide range of use cases."

FlexSense's real-world applications are not limited to one sector. Myriota's clients span agriculture, water, transport and logistics, among other environmental applications. The company prides itself on the trust and reliability its partners place in its solutions, which is reflected in the global deployment of its technology.

One such case is Denmark-headquartered Grundfos, a global pump and water solutions provider, which has tested and is using Myriota FlexSense for a robust monitoring system for pumps and tanks. Tom Drew, Global Business Development Manager, Solar, at Grundfos, remarked, "Myriota is an indispensable partner for our business, enabling us to deliver our energy and water solutions for a wide range of use cases across the globe."

"Their low-power connectivity enables our customers to optimise operations over huge distances, reduce energy consumption, and maximise sustainability, while also ensuring faster response times to issues such as water leaks."

Myriota's ambitions do not stop at FlexSense. As OEMs scale their operations, they have the option to transition from FlexSense to fully customised solutions built using the Myriota Module, providing a quick and low-risk route to tailor products to specific economic and form factor requirements.

The launch of FlexSense follows a period of substantial growth for Myriota, with a 300% increase in deployed devices reported for the fiscal year 2023. The company is expanding its market presence rapidly across the Asia-Pacific region, the USA, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Latin America.
