TCS has signed a multi-year partnership with Elopak to transform the packaging company's IT operations, making TCS Elopak's strategic IT partner for its global systems.

Under the agreement, TCS will transform and manage Elopak's IT operations through what the companies described as a process-centric operating model. The work will cover end-to-end IT services and is intended to align the technology estate more closely with business priorities.

Elopak operates in more than 40 countries and serves customers in over 70 markets, giving the contract an international scope. Known for paper-based packaging and filling equipment, the company has set out a broader strategy focused on market growth, strengthening its position in paper-based packaging and reducing reliance on plastics.

The programme will include advanced analytics and automation, including TCS's Cognix service delivery suite. It also covers the creation of an integrated service desk and upgrades to key enterprise applications as part of a wider modernisation of Elopak's IT environment.

The agreement gives TCS a central role in Elopak's global technology operations at a time when manufacturers are reviewing core systems, support functions and application estates. For Elopak, the programme is tied to efforts to improve internal efficiency and the experience of staff using its systems across the business.

Merethe Johansen, CIO at Elopak, said, "Our partnership with TCS represents a significant step in advancing our digital ambitions and strengthening our global operations. By modernizing our IT landscape and leveraging AI-driven capabilities, we aim to improve efficiency, enhance user experience and support our growth objectives as we move towards our 2030 vision driving above-market growth, and advancing our strategic priorities."

Nordic footprint

The contract also expands TCS's presence in the Nordic region, where it operates in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. TCS has been seeking to deepen relationships with large enterprises in the region, particularly in long-term technology management and transformation work.

Manufacturing remains a key vertical for TCS, and the Elopak contract fits that focus. Businesses increasingly need digital foundations that can adapt as operating conditions, customer requirements and internal processes change.

Anupam Singhal, President - Manufacturing at TCS, said, "In an increasingly connected and intelligent business environment, enterprises need digital foundations that can continuously adapt and evolve. Through this partnership, we will help Elopak modernize its IT operations with AI, automation, and cloud, enabling greater agility, operational efficiency, and user experience across its global business. Together, we look forward to supporting Elopak's growth strategy and sustainability ambitions as it continues to deliver innovative and sustainable packaging solutions to customers and consumers around the world."

For Elopak, the technology programme sits alongside a broader corporate roadmap linking growth plans with sustainability goals. The company wants to strengthen its position in paper-based packaging while responding to changing market demand and customer expectations.

This makes the IT overhaul more than a back-office outsourcing deal, as it affects service management, enterprise applications and support structures used across the organisation. By consolidating these functions under one strategic partner, Elopak aims to create a more consistent operating model across its international business.

Amit Pethe, Country Head at TCS Norway, said, "Elopak is a global leader with a strong heritage of innovation and sustainability. We are proud to partner with them on their transformation journey. By combining TCS' AI-led capabilities with deep domain expertise, we will help build a resilient, agile, and intelligent IT ecosystem that supports Elopak's long-term growth and enhances its global competitiveness."
