KIOCL adopts TrueConf Server to boost operational efficiency

Sat, 25th May 2024

Kudremukh Iron Ore Company (KIOCL) has recently embraced advanced digital communication solutions to enhance its operational efficiency. The company has implemented the TrueConf Server, an on-premises 4K video conferencing platform, to equip its over 1,000 employees with secure tools for collaboration, video calls, and team messaging. This development aims to facilitate hybrid and online work modes across KIOCL's diverse locations.

KIOCL, owned by the Ministry of Steel, Government of India, is a central public-sector undertaking. With its headquarters in Bengaluru, the company is a leading entity in iron ore mining and pelletisation, with significant facilities, including a pelletisation plant in Mangaluru and an iron ore mine in Kudremukh. Over the years, KIOCL has established itself as a critical contributor to India's economic growth.

Prior to adopting the TrueConf Server, KIOCL faced challenges in achieving a seamless workflow management system. The absence of a unified solution to address economic, production, and logistical challenges across its various centres, compounded by unreliable internet connections, made online communication a cumbersome task for its employees.

To tackle these issues, KIOCL engaged Techser Power Solutions, a certified system integrator in India, after conducting extensive research. Techser Power Solutions facilitated the implementation of the TrueConf Server, providing a robust communications network that connects over 1,000 employees across numerous branches and departments.

The TrueConf system is designed to meet the stringent security and data protection requirements of public sector enterprises. Its proprietary protocol ensures operational security free from the risks of blocking by foreign IT companies and providers. The platform enables KIOCL to transmit data exclusively within their local network, ensuring no third-party access and maintaining data encryption at all necessary levels.

KIOCL employees now leverage this self-hosted video collaboration system for a range of activities, including workshops, team meetings, and official events. The system supports information sharing and project coordination, with powerful client applications installed on both PCs and mobile devices. This allows employees to contact colleagues at any time. Additionally, the corporate messenger feature facilitates asynchronous communication through personal and group chats, which are synchronised across all user devices.

During video meetings, participants can utilise various collaboration tools that enhance interaction efficiency. These include file, video, and audio sharing, slideshow presentations, remote desktop control, and video conference recording. This integration has not only improved communication but also preserved the enterprise’s investment by connecting legacy video conferencing endpoints to the new TrueConf Server-based network.

KM Raghuraj, a representative from Techser Power Solutions, noted the importance of scalable and reliable IT systems for large companies in today’s digital landscape. He highlighted the necessity for such systems to integrate seamlessly with existing IT services and hardware while ensuring communication security and privacy. Raghuraj affirmed that the TrueConf Server met these requirements, offering a comprehensive platform for high-quality video conferencing and instant messaging, thus becoming a reliable tool for conducting daily online meetings.
